OK, folks: popped my Portland exhibition cherry last night at Sidecar 11! And, despite the bad case of nerves preceding, it went swimmingly (especially after the first cocktail…)! Excellent turnout–many thanks to all who showed! It really meant a lot to me. Those who RSVPed got a little something extra: a “cozy” (real-estate speak for “tiny”) print of a new original design incorporating an original linoleum cut.
The combination of bright, engaging guests and our great hosts at Sidecar (John and Aaron)–and the excellent victuals–made for a wonderful and stimulating evening. Wine tasting by local micro-winemaker Jan-Marc Wine Cellars (lovely balanced flavors, btw) didn’t hurt, either. Thanks especially to the artists who showed up (delightful people all): Sine Morse (see next post), Mike Trapp and Mike Brown. And many thanks to my rep., Jeffrey T. Howard.
One thing I especially appreciated was the careful attention paid to, not just the 3 big paintings on the walls, but my portfolio of selected works in painting, illustration, printmaking and drawings. Feedback was gratifying. And it didn’t hurt that we sold a number of greeting card sets!
